Brief Summary:

The Bulk Item Driver is required to drive a F-350 stake bed truck refuse, fuel, equipment or; operates various pieces of heavy equipment and assist in the collection of garbage to ensure that the streets and alleyways of Los Angeles are clean and free of trash or in connection with the Office of Community Beautification guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following as other duties may be assigned:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Hand loads small piles of brush on to front-end loader to assist the brush pick up crew.

Maintains records on miles driven and bags used to maintain information for administrative purposes.

All other duties specified by the Supervisor.

Working Conditions & Hazards:

▪ Exposed to all weather conditions and traffic hazards.

▪ Subject to fumes, foul odors, dust, toxic waste, and disease-causing materials when transporting solid waste.

▪ Requires bending, pulling and pushing when onloading and offloading bulky item materials

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED

Language – Demonstrated ability to:

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math – Demonstrated ability to:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning – Demonstrated ability to:

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Microsoft office, Internet

Certificates and Licenses: Valid Driver’s License; good driving record.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Urban Infrastructure Manager is required to have strong communication skills with staff.

Salary:

This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary wage range 20.00-22.00 per/hr.
